Aipaca

An AI-powered clinical decision-support assistant for lung cancer screening, helping established patients understand whether they may meet USPSTF screening criteria — through natural voice or SMS conversations.

Aipaca is an IRB-approved research project of the University of Oklahoma. Established patients in our affiliated primary care and pulmonology clinics can call or text the Aipaca line and have a brief conversation with the assistant about their smoking history, screening eligibility, and the next clinical steps to discuss with their primary care clinician.

What Aipaca Does

Voice Consultations

Patients call a toll-free line and have a natural, real-time conversation about their smoking history and lung cancer screening options. Calls are confidential and HIPAA-compliant.

Text Messaging Support

The same number supports two-way SMS. Patients can text questions, get information about low-dose CT screening, and arrange follow-up with their primary care clinician.

USPSTF-Aligned Guidance

Conversations follow the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommendations for lung cancer screening, helping patients calculate their pack-years and understand eligibility.

Shared Decision-Making

Aipaca prepares each patient for a thoughtful, informed conversation with their primary care clinician about whether low-dose CT screening is right for them.
